Specialised ‘Social and Therapeutic Horticulture’ training for professionals working with mental health groups - 2 - day workshop organised by Thrive

Green care is becoming ever-more popular in health-care provision. Therapeutic horticulture can offer a robust, cost-effective approach to complement existing services. ‘Using Social and Therapeutic Horticulture to benefit people with Mental Health support needs’ is a two-day course that is designed to empower health and social care professionals to use social and therapeutic horticulture in residential, day-care, community and other settings. Learn to address concepts including rehabilitation, recovery, social inclusion, training and employment.

Participants will learn:

  • To apply the principles and practice of social and therapeutic horticulture to benefit people who have mental health support needs.
  • To design a client centered social and therapeutic horticulture programme.
  • The importance of assessment, monitoring, evaluation, horticultural programming and planning for garden projects and for the individuals attending a garden project.
