About the programmes
All of our weight management programmes have been designed by registered dietitians and nutritionists who, as part of the Community Nutrition Team, have extensive experience developing and delivering community-based weight management interventions for both adults and children.
Our programmes all adhere to NICE best practice standards for community weight management interventions and are multi-component combining nutrition, physical activity and behaviour change.
Adult programmes aim for a weight loss of 5-10% of body weight over 6-12 months as recommended by (NICE, 2006) and SIGN Management of Obesity Guidance (2010). Other outcomes include a reduction of energy dense foods, increased physical activity and reaching achievable goals for long-term behaviour change.
Our childrens programmes encourage weight maintenance and aim to help the whole family eat a healthier diet and be more physically active, build self-esteem and encourage a positive body image.
