Cookery skills sessions

Veg Chopping

We deliver a wide range of free or low cost cookery workshops and courses to enable people to cook healthy meals from scratch.

We also run one-off skills sessions to support the professional development of people working or volunteering as community cooks or cookery teachers. Past topics have included methods of preparing and cooking meat and fish, ways of using leftover or surplus foods to avoid waste, running pick-and-cook events, and adapting recipes and techniques for large and small scale events.

Bespoke training

We often work with organisations, local authorities and businesses to deliver a cookery session, workshop or demonstration to suit their specific needs. Please get in touch if you would like to know more.

Recipe Sheets

We have a great selection of tried-and-tested, healthy, low-cost recipes online.

We also have a large library of easy recipes we use at our cookery workshops and demonstration which we can make available for you to print out to use at home or in groups.

Venues with kitchen

We regularly work across the city in various community venues with kitchens and can help you find the right space for your community activity. If you have a space with a kitchen to hire, please contact us to be included in our directory.

New projects

We have been involved with several projects in the city requiring advice on kitchen design or sourcing equipment or just setting up. Ask us for advice on:

  • business planning
  • designing spaces for community cookery activities
  • consultation with stakeholders
  • equipment requirements
  • disability access
  • issues around ongoing maintenance, replacement and repair.

Consultancy and advice

We are happy to share our experience of delivering healthy eating initiatives to a wide range of organisations, including work with schools, toddler groups, young people, new parents and older people.
