Friday 21 Feb 2020 - Friday 17 Jul 2020
10:00 am - 12:00 pm
We are running a monthly cookery club for people with learning disabilities to learn cooking skills and new recipes in a sociable setting.
Our ‘Brunch Bunch’ sessions will cook a light, mid-morning meal together. We will learn simple recipes for tasty breakfasts and light lunches, such as: pancakes, French toast, soups, dips, salads, bread, cakes and biscuits.
We will share the work to create our dishes so there will be plenty of time to socialise and chat. We welcome participants who can attend independently, as well as those who may need a carer’s support to get the most out of the sessions.
We are also developing a set of picture recipes which we hope participants can use at home and will be asking for feedback on these during the sessions for those who are interested.
When: The group takes place on the third Friday of each month, 10am-12pm, including time to sit and eat together.
Dates for 2020 are: 21st February, 20th March, 17th April, 15th May, 19th June and 17th July.
Where: The Community Kitchen, next to Community Base, at 113 Queens Road, Brighton, BN1 3XG
Who can apply?
- People with mild learning disabilities
- All participants must be aged 16 and over
- Depending on support needs, some participants may need to attend alongside a carer, please speak to us if unsure
Costs: We ask for a suggested donation of at least £5 per person, per session (including carers if eating with the group). Please speak to us if cost is a barrier.
