Good to Grow – older people’s gardening course
About this event

Good to Grow is a free 8 week gardening programme taking place at our lovely Demo garden in Preston Park. The course is for those aged 60 or above, living alone or with a physical or mental health condition.
Over the 8 weeks, we will cover many aspects of gardening with wildlife in mind, exploring techniques and developing skills to increase confidence and enjoyment in the garden, whether that be a balcony, patio, allotment or even a windowsill.
Session leader Jan Wallis will bring her expertise and enthusiasm to share with participants each week in this friendly and welcoming group. There will be plenty of time for questions and refreshments as we get to know the garden, plants and each other.
Gardening is a wonderful way to help improve wellbeing and take time to notice nature as we head into the cooler months.
No experience or knowledge is required – the group is open to everyone from beginners to keen gardeners. The gardening activities are adaptable to a range of abilities and fitness levels. The garden is an accessible space, with bus stops nearby, is near to toilets and a cosy café if the weather is less than ideal. Participants will need to be able to stand and walk unaided.
Sessions start Tues 6th Sept 2-4pm and run for 8 weeks – please ensure before booking that can attend the whole course.
