Learn to create the ultimate picnic or garden party spread with innovative cheese & wine pairings at this special tasting event.

Cheese is not just for Christmas! Join cheese writer Patrick McGuigan and wine expert Helen Chesshire for a summery cheese and wine tasting to raise funds for the Community Kitchen. We can’t wait to welcome this fun duo back after their previous sold-out events. From herbaceous sheep’s milk cheeses and creamy bries to farmhouse cheddar fit for a Ploughman’s and leaf-wrapped cheese, Patrick and Helen will be exploring how to serve the perfect summery cheeseboard at barbecues, picnics and garden parties with hot weather wines to match, plus seasonal accompaniments. You will taste six cheeses and six wines, and hear tips on the best ways to cook with cheese – from grilled halloumi to salads and frittatas. Patrick McGuigan is a Brighton-based food journalist & cheese writer for a range of national titles. He is a senior judge at the World Cheese Awards, a member of the Guild des Fromagers, teaches Academy of Cheese training courses at the School of Fine Food in London and also runs the Online Cheese School. He is also the co-founder of Brighton’s OctoberBest restaurant festival. Bolney Wine Estate: Bolney is one of the oldest vineyards in the UK and for 50 years have been pioneering the growth of winemaking in this country which is now the most exciting new wine growing region globally. The wine estate is located on the edge of the South Downs and has a picturesque restaurant and café overlooking their stunning vineyards. Tickets for this event include: Dietary information: This menu for this class does not contain meat but please note that some cheeses will be made with raw milk and/ or contain animal rennet. We are unable to substitute any cheeses for this event. The accompaniments can be adapted for gluten-free diets, but this must be specified when booking. Please note we cannot guarantee the kitchen is a fully gluten-free environment. For any other allergies or dietary requirements, please contact us to discuss before booking.
Booking instructions
Tickets for this event are £50 per person including all food and accompanying drinks, or take £5 off per ticket when booking two or more tickets at once (just select the ‘Bring a Friend’ option).
Funds raised from this class will help raise funds to replace worn out kitchen kit from kitchen knives to hand mixers. Patrick and Helen have generously donated their time for the class.
