Taste of Summer – Community Class
About this event
Join us for our new seasonal cookery class – a ‘Taste of Summer’. Food that’s in season tastes so much better and you can make the most of what’s in the shops now. Eat delicious and nutritious meals, while keeping costs low with seasonal ingredients.

This class explores the flavours of summer when they’re at their peak. In this workshop, you will use a variety of ingredients and techniques to make the most of the harvest.
You will leave with new ideas and having eaten a tasty meal.
Course structure:
- Make your own smoothies and juices
taste the mix of summer fruits at their best and mix them to create your own tasty smoothies - Summer salad
using seasonal fruits and vegetables and discovering a wide variety of homemade dressings and sauces - Seasonal soups
discover the world of summer soups, packed with flavour and nutrients - Parfait and bircher
delicious options for your summer puddings, no cooking needed
Application instructions
Who can attend?
People who are able to participate independently and attend an in person cookery session. Attendees must be either social housing residents, on benefits, or older people living alone or with a health condition.
Costs:
We ask for a suggested donation of £5 on the day of the class, payments can be made by cash or card.
If travel/ transport costs will be an issue for you, please contact us as we may be able to help.
To reserve your place:
All participants must apply for a space on this course in advance – we will contact you around two weeks before the class to confirm if your application has been successful.
