We share tasty recipes and tips for baking breads and cakes that impress, no previous skills required. Pastry chef Charlotte Fuller will demonstrate essential skills and help you avoid common mistakes. In just a few hours you will create and takeaway:

  • sodabread – quick and easy no fuss bread
  • scones – baking staple and freeze well
  • zesty lemon cupcakes – sponge making skills

Join us for a relaxing and friendly session and leave with new skills and inspiration.

Covid-19 safety measures

This class takes place after 19th July when social distancing rules and other covid-related regulations are removed. If new restrictions are announced, we will adapt our procedures according to the latest government guidelines and any updates will be sent by email and listed on our website. Our Kitchen space continues to be kept to a very high standard of cleaning and hygiene regardless.
Note: If you are Clinically Extremely Vulnerable, current government advice recommends avoiding contact with unvaccinated people. Please note small venues cannot request or guarantee the vaccination status of everyone attending events, so please take this into consideration.

Booking instructions

Who can attend?

People who are able to participate independently and attend an in person cookery session. Attendees must be either social housing residents or older people living alone or with a health condition.

Places on this cookery class have been funded by Ageing Well Brighton & Hove and by Southern Housing Group.


We ask for a suggested donation of £5 on the day of the class, payments can be made by cash or card.

If travel/ transport costs will be an issue for you, please contact us as we may be able to help.

To reserve your place:

All participants must apply for a space on this course in advance – we will contact you around two weeks before the class to confirm if your application has been successful.
