pakora on a plateChef Kanthi brings the authentic tastes of South India to the Community Kitchen, sharing the cooking techniques and flavour combinations that have evolved over centuries so you can prepare a typical south Indian meal in Brighton.

The planned menu includes: pakoras, tomato chutney, Keralan coconut chicken, spinach daal, rice and mango coconut pudding.

You will prepare the menu working in pairs, with Kanthi’s guidance, then sit and eat together, with a complimentary glass of wine kindly donated by Butler’s Wine Cellar.

Places on this class will help raise funds for our much-needed commercial dishwasher! Thanks to Kanthi generously donating his time for the event.

About Kanthi

Chef Kanthi Thamma was born and raised in Hyderabad, the culinary capital of southern India. He is still inspired by the city’s history, and passionate about the food and flavours of his childhood. It was in his mother’s kitchen that he realised he was destined to become a chef, a journey that has seen him travel the world in search of culinary inspiration and excellence.

He opened his first restaurant, Curry Leaf Cafe, which then expanded to two other restaurants and a Kiosk at the Brighton Railway Station. He also runs gastronomic tours in the south of India as the Spice Circuit, taking groups to Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu’s rich culture and cuisines.

Ticket pricing

Tickets for this event are £40, or £35 (per person) when booking two or more tickets at once. Prices include VAT. The ticket includes all equipment, food, professional guidance from the cookery leader and a complimentary glass of wine with your meal (additional drinks available as a BYO option).
