About this event

Join popular food writer, presenter and Community Kitchen favourite Lerato Umah-Shaylor on a West African adventure featuring wonderful produce from plantains to wondrous spices.
Lerato will share her secrets to cooking sumptuous plant-based feasts inspired by her African heritage. With recipes from her amazing new cookbook, Africana.
Under her expert guidance, and depending on availability and seasonal availability, you will learn to prepare the following recipes:
- A glorious Senegalese 7 veg Jollof with a seasonal rainbow of vegetables
- Aubergine Yassa – Sunshine on your pate with citrus, dijon, chillies and herbs.
- Spiced Banana Fritters with Spiced Chocolate
Bring your own bottle to enjoy with the feast at the end of this exciting hands-on class, where you will work in pairs to create your dishes. The class is plant-based and great for cooks from beginners to experts, leaving you inspired to add African vibrancy into your cooking.
Previous participants said: “Brilliant course! Lerato is a fantastic tutor.” “I will try all of the new recipes, haven’t cooked west African before.”
