You are accessing the Brighton & Hove Food Partnership website directory – we don’t run the projects listed, we share their details to help people find local services. Brighton Unemployed Centre Families Project provides a huge range of support, services and activities for people with low incomes including an allotment group based at Walpole Road Allotments on Whitehawk Hill Road.
As well as learning, producing food and socialising every week, they run occasional free training days too, such as caring for wormeries, culinary herb growing and making a hot heap. Some people only want to dig, others stick to picking fruit and veg, there is plenty of choice for all interests and abilities.
They share a light lunch mid afternoon always including delicious fresh salad.
Due to coronavirus there has been many changes, please visit BUCFP website for the latest updates.
Audience and Access:
Newcomers are encouraged to contact BUCFP before their first visit. You don’t need any skills or experience in advance. Volunteers choose how long to stay, and what kind of jobs they want to join in with, though typically the session runs until 5pm.
All are welcome, although they don’t have wheelchair access as the whole site is on a slope via a steep narrow path.
