Special Branch Tree Nursery

The nursery has been running for 15 years collecting, propagating and growing native trees and hedgerow shrubs from local sources. The nursery is totally organic and is run entirely voluntarily.

Plants are sold to local conservation projects, such as Sussex Wildlife Trust, local nature reserves, University of Brighton, schools and allotments.

Volunteering involves raising trees from seed; transplanting; pruning; taking cuttings; composting; wild-flower meadow; pond and orchard management; plant and wildlife identification; general organic horticulture practice; all year round activities.

Who is it for?:

Induction, training and support is offered. No previous horticultural skills required. The nursery provides an ideal opportunity for learning and sharing organic horticulture, conservation and wildlife skills
