Therapeutic gardening project in Stanmer Park open to people with experience of mental health issues.
The aim of the group is for gardeners to consciously experience the healing changes which will occur in their daily life through spending time in a nature-rich environment while engaged in meaningful and structured activity.
Gardeners will be supported to work practically or creatively, individually or with others, in the development and maintenance of an organic vegetable allotment. Activities can be adapted to the abilities, needs and personal improvement goals of individual gardeners.
Gardeners will be encouraged to work at tasks they feel connected to on the day, at a pace that is comfortable for them at that time. Feeling safe, comfortable and valued are central to the group’s ethos.
