If you’re unfamiliar with bao, think Taiwanese burgers, a name these Asian steamed buns sometimes go by. Then think again – because apart from being a filled-bun dish, that’s where the similarity ends.
In this session you will learn all you need to know about creating the most perfect, soft pillowy bao. Your chef Jethro will demonstrate how to make the dough before proving and shaping it. You will learn techniques to make a range of bao shapes, such as the Japanese hirata bao (the sandwich), filled bao and the traditional Chinese snowball and create a choice of fillings to suit all tastes.
Expect to be fully hooked on these fluffy, super-tasty on-trend treats by the end of this session!

Covid-19 safety measures
We’ve taken time to develop new procedures and systems to keep participants, volunteers and staff safe, find out more here. For those who have attended our classes in the past, the key changes are that we now ask everyone to wear a face covering throughout the class (except during outside breaks), we no longer share a meal at the end but will package food to takeaway, and we are of course keeping to social distancing during the classes.
Tickets for this event are £55 per person, or £99.99 (in total) when booking two tickets at once. Those booking a pair of tickets should be from the same household or bubble as they will be working closely together, whilst still creating their own dishes.
We have a limited number of tickets available at a concession rate of £34.99 for those who are in receipt of a means-tested benefit, under-18s (must be accompanied by an adult), as well as full-time students. If available, these options will appear in the drop-down when purchasing your ticket.

Due to current government guidelines and for the safety of all involved, we have greatly reduced the number of participants at our cookery classes. Any cancellations now have an increased impact on our ability to run a viable cookery school. We are therefore unable to provide refunds except if there is a mistake with the booking and we are notified within 48 hours after booking. In the event of a local/ national lockdown or change in government guidelines, we will reschedule classes if necessary and bookings will be valid for the new date or can be transferred to another event.
If you are unable to attend your class for any reason, we encourage you to transfer your booking to a friend who can attend in your place.
