Kids World of Food – online cookery for summer holidays (lentil dhal) – 5-week package now available

Join our online cookery sessions covering different global cuisines for kids aged 7 and up with experienced cookery teachers and parents Jethro and Charlotte . These fun, hands-on workshops will see your child learning classic cookery skills whilst virtually travelling the world. You may never want to cook again!

dhal curry soupYou can buy a ticket for all 5 classes below or book sessions individually. For those booking all 5 classes, we will send out a full list of ingredients for the summer so you can plan your shopping well in advance. Please note these sessions will require parental supervision to ensure the safety of our young cooks.

  • Wednesday 5 August, 11am – Coconut lentil dhal and yoghurt raita with Charlotte

Future lessons for those booking all 5 weeks (always 11am-12pm):

  • Wednesday 12 August – Cheese scones and soft cheese dip with Charlotte
  • Wednesday 19 August – Sushi rolls with Jethro
  • Wednesday 26 August – Potato gnocchi with Jethro
  • Wednesday 2 September – Empanada pastries with Jethro

Skills covered include safe knife use (the bridge and the claw), safe boiling, baking and frying, kneading, working with dough, mixing, weighing and measuring, spicing and vegetable preparation (please note, this is over various sessions and not all the skills will be covered in any one event).

Dietary requirements: All menus will include a vegetarian option, for any other dietary requirements or allergies, please contact us to discuss before booking.

  • professional cookery tuition
  • link to the webinar on Zoom (we will send further details after booking if you have not used Zoom before)
  • lists of ingredients and equipment to assemble before the lesson
  • all recipes from the class emailed out afterwards

Booking instructions

Tickets for this event are offered on a ‘pay by donation’ basis. If buying tickets for all five weeks, we ask for a donation of at least £25.

If buying tickets for just one session, we suggest a donation of £6 per session, or £3 if unwaged, and £10 if you are able to ‘pay it forward’ to help us keep these classes accessible to all. Please note we do not typically offer refunds on online events.
