Fareshare Sussex

FareShare Sussex redistributes surplus food that would otherwise be wasted to community groups and charities that support vulnerable people.

Fareshare currently prevents around 10 tonnes of food a week from going to waste and enables nearly 100 charities to provide nutritious meals or food parcels to their clients.  Recipients include lunch clubs, children’s centres, food banks and supported housing schemes.

Fareshare Sussex have volunteer opportunities for:

  • Delivery drivers  to ensure good food goes to where it is needed most. The Delivery Driver role involves driving a FareShare van that delivers food to their member organisations and collecting food from suppliers
  • Depot/Delivery Assistants  to pick stock and label orders for deliveries, going out on the van, sorting and restocking food.

Both roles involve heavy lifting, a small amount of paperwork, representing FareShare and providing a high level of customer service when out in the community.  They occasionally have other roles for example, admin, events, fundraiser and ambassador.
