What: Long standing master butchers selling a range of organic meats and poultry.

Barfields Butchers
What: Traditional butchers selling free range naturally reared meat from Sussex and nearby counties.
Where: Buy from their Fiveways shop (11 Kings Parade, Ditchling Road) or arrange home delivery.

Ben’s Butchers
What: Lewes-based butcher selling local free-range meat. A home delivery service is also available.

What: An award-winning butcher selling ‘naturally-reared and fed’ beef, lamb, pork and poultry, as well as homemade sausages and local cheeses.

Brighton Sausage Company
What: This shop in Brighton’s North Laine aims for local, natural ingredients and proper animal welfare for its huge range of sausages.

What: One of the firm favourites for meat eaters in Hove, selling free range meats and a range of pies, pasties and other baked goods.

What: Long standing butchers specialising in organic and local sourced meat and produce.

Clayton Organic Farm
What: Stocks a wide-range of certified organic meat and eggs from their farm shop Hen on the Gate (delivery available).

Garlic Wood
What: Garlic Wood is a family-owned business selling sustainably produced meat including 100% grass-fed beef, South Downs lamb and their own free-range pork.

Fin and Farm
What: Sells free range meat sourced from Sussex farms, along with veg boxes and more.
Where: Delivers to homes and commercial kitchens across Sussex (Tel: 07966 972 530)
When:  Brighton, Hove and Lewes deliveries on Tuesday and Thursday, Worthing, Lancing and Shoreham deliveries on Tuesdays only.

What: An independent ‘supermarket’ that sells high quality meat sourced directly from small, responsible family farms in Sussex.
Where: 20-21 York Place, Brighton, BN1 4GU

What: PigShare is a new venture supplying pork to Brighton & Hove from Hathor Farm, a fully organic and free range farm in a wooded setting. Each share of pork is one eighth of a whole animal, butchered down into individually wrapped cuts. Each one eighth share costs £65.

R C Secker
What: Traditional butchers selling local lamb, Scotch beef, free-range pork and a wide variety of sausages.

Saddlescombe Farm
What: A traditional farm in the South Downs National Park that produces quality meat with a focus on high animal welfare and protecting the natural environment.  They sell lamb boxes, beef boxes and individual cuts which can be collected directly from their farm shop or delivered via mail order.

Sheep Share
What: Sheep Share aims to get sheep that are currently grazing in and around Brighton & Hove into the city as lamb. You can buy one-quarter of a whole animal, butchered down into individually vacuum packed cuts from the back legs to the neck, plus mince. Each share costs £41.

The Sussex Peasant
What: A mobile farm shop selling 100% pasture fed beef, pork, lamb, chicken and game, as well as locally caught fish, seasonal Sussex grown fruit and veg, locally produced cheese and a range of other local products.
